Abstract
Photovoltaic (PV) system is one of the promising source of renewable energy due to the environmental friendly and abundance of solar energy in nature. However, the efficiency of PV system is greatly impacted under the varying atmospheric conditions. In practical PV system, local and global maximum power peak (MPP) are produced due to the varying solar insolation and non-linear behavior of PV cell which is known as partial shaded condition (PSC). Under this PSC, to track the global peak is greatly challenged which reduces the PV system efficiency. This paper presents a novel beetle antenna search (BAS) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm to ensure the detection of the global maximum power point (GMPP) under PSC. The proposed algorithm excels in fields such as easy implementation and high tracking ability. Further, the number of iteration is independent on the number of PV modules which ensures faster convergence rate.
