Abstract

Abstract Systems with ultra-band width make use in wireless scenario which enables information transmission over long range of frequency of small distances with a minimum power and high information rates. An ultra-wide band filter is an important requirement for high-quality signal transmission and reception. Designing a compact UWB filter insertion loss much lower is a very difficult task. A structure with ground defected is defined to be etched periodically or non-periodically, cascaded configuration of a planar transmission line whose ground is defected disturbs the current distributed in the ground. A microstrip ultra-wideband filter is introduced in this paper. The filter includes interdigital feed lines on the upper face of substrate and rectangular-shaped structure defected ground at the bottom. The filter is 26.5 x 7.546 x 1.6 mm3 of dimension. The filter provides excellent passband (from 2.4-14.3 GHz) with a reduced return loss of -21.24 dB and insertion loss of -0.7dB at 6.9 GHz. Simulations are carried using ANSYS HFSS Electromagnetic Solver version 16.2.
