Abstract
Latency is the primary barrier to the development of a long-sought cure for HIV-1. In this issue of Cell Chemical Biology, Marian etal., (2018) describe the development of novel compounds targeting the BAF chromatin remodeling complex to reverse HIV latency, with the potential to provide a functional cure.
