Abstract

Ardon Brereton died on May 29, 1976, after a long illness, courageously borne. He was born in St. Lucia, British West Indies, in 1905, and brought up in St. Vincent, from where he travelled to Edinburgh to study medicine, graduating in 1930. The following year he entered the Colonial Medical Service, serving at first in Dominica. In 1937 he obtained the D.M.R.E. (Cambridge) and then went to St. Vincent, where he served as Resident Surgeon and Radiologist.
