Abstract
The substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) allows the construct of some types of planar antennas which cannot be conventionally integrated on the substrate. However, owing to some technology restrictions, designed SIW horn antennas normally work in the frequency above 10 GHz. This paper proposes a 6.8GHz low-profile H-plane horn antenna based on the ridged SIW, which allows the substrates thinner than λ/10. Far field radiation patterns are reported to reveal the good performance of proposed antenna. Comparisons among the ridged SIW horn antennas with different number of ridges are also made to shown the matching improvements.
