Abstract
A low phase noise and low cost voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) is usually required for WiGig system applications. In this paper an NMOS push-push cascade is proposed to match the better output impedance, better output power, and boost up to 60GHz effectively. The LC tank and cross-coupled circuit are designed by using 0.18 μm process. The output phase noise is simulated for −90.5 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset. With a small area of 474.92 × 492.16 μm2, the total power consumption is 0.03318 W at the supply voltage of 1.2V. The tuning range is about 110 MHz from 59.99 GHz to 60.10 GHz. The figure of merit (FOM) is −170.85 dBc/Hz and better than some other papers on 60 GHz.
