Abstract

A 60 GHz magneto-electric dipole phased array antenna in package (AiP) solution with symmetric hybrid feeding network is proposed using low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology. The hybrid substrate integrated waveguide (SIW)/microstrip feeding network is designed to reduce the feeding loss. With the hybrid SIW/microstrip structure, a symmetrical feeding network can be obtained in the phased array design. Benefited from the symmetrical feeding network, the performance of the array element is more identical. The 16-element phased array package size is 20 mm×20 mm×0.97 mm, which consists of 4 2×2 subarrays. The measured results show that the |S11| of each element is less than −10 dB from 56.2 to 65 GHz, and the peak gain of each element is about 6.25 ±0.75 dBi cross all four IEEE 802.15.3c channels.
