Abstract

A 5 GHz low power double balanced Gilbert cell mixer on O.18 /spl mu/m CMOS process for a WLAN receiver front-end is investigated. The inductively degenerated Gilbert Cell mixer is simulated for its conversion gain, noise figure and linearity. The mixer has 6.6 dB conversion gain, 9 dB SSB NF, -5.4 dBm IIP3, consuming 5.4 mW from a 1.8 V power supply. The performance degradation at lower supply voltages and currents are investigated. The mixer provides similar performance from a 1.5 V supply consuming 4.5 mW.
