Abstract

The (0-0) band of a new 4Σ1/2-X 2Π1/2 transition has been observed in the hollow cathode emission spectra of the CuS molecule. Rotational analysis provides the following molecular constants (in cm−1) for the D 4Σ1/2 state: T0 = 23112.88; B0 = 0.17453; p0 = 0.858; p0j = 3.3 × 10−6; D0 = 0.11 × 10−6. Pulsed dye laser fluorescence experiments confirm the general diagram of the observed CuS electronic states.
