Abstract

A 3D spherical panorama modeling method based on the principle of multi-view geometry is proposed in this study to solve panoramic measurement. First, this method uses homography and essential transformations to obtain parameters. Second, it establishes a double spherical projection geometric relationship to complete relative orientation. Third, the conversion parameters of the relative orientation between this method and close-range photogrammetry are derived and compared. Experimental results show the feasibility of the method proposed in this study.

Highlights

  • A geometric measurement method based on a sequence of images is used to restore the 3D structure information of a scene based on the principle of stereo vision [1], [2]

  • This study proposes the use of two spherical panoramic models to construct a 3D spherical panoramic model

  • The spatial transformation relationship between the two models is derived and relative orientation is achieved by analyzing the spatial relationship in the 3D spherical panoramic model on the basis of the principle of multi-view geometry

Summary

INTRODUCTION

A geometric measurement method based on a sequence of images (one, two, or more) is used to restore the 3D structure information of a scene based on the principle of stereo vision [1], [2]. Method introduces and defines the parallax of a fish-eye spherical image and obtains the distance from the spatial point to the center of the fish-eye lens in accordance with the multi-view geometric principle to realize 3D point recovery This method is widely used in the accurate measurements of long-distance targets [5], virtual environment system simulation [6], 3D modeling [7], and mobile vehicle scene simulation [8]. The current study proposes a spherical panoramic 3D modeling method based on the spherical panoramic projection relationship and the principle of multi-view geometry This method uses homography and essential transformations to obtain parameters, such as rotation and translation. The experimental results show the feasibility of the method proposed in this paper
