Abstract

Marjan fields west of Kifl, represent the underground geological structures that contain oil-producing reservoirs in central Iraq. The objective of this study is to identify the most important acquisition criteria that can design an optimal 3D reflection seismic survey to obtain high-resolution seismic images of four major reservoirs. Hartha, Zubair, Najma, and Churra chine in Marjan fields, west of Kifl as oil reservoirs within the study area, for which a three-dimensional design is required. Generally, it is found that a specific container size of 25×25 m is suitable for sampling the field of the reflected waves in the study area. The group interval and the survey resource interval determined this size of 50 m was adopted for the time interval of the source and receiver. A dip of 30, and a maximum frequency of 70 H, were used to create the survey design. The migration aperture is calculated using the variation of velocity with depth and is 2450 m. All these computational and statistical parameters were performed using MESA Expert v11.02 software.
