Abstract

A small antenna with low E-plane ominidirectional radiation pattern is presented for wireless communication system. This simple structure antenna is based on small loop antenna. Four printed dipole antennas each with a microstrip via-hole balun feeding structure are combined and fabricated on a two layers substrate. A high frequency and Q- value patch inductance is loaded on each arm of the printed dipole of the antenna to reduce the overall length. Both simulated and measured results exhibit low un-roundness of E-plane omnidirectional radiation pattern.
