Abstract

A 24.5–50 GHz cascode mixer is presented in this paper. By applying modified dc bias technique in cascode structure, the mixer achieves a wide IF bandwidth of from 0.5 to 16 GHz. The mixer shows conversion gains better than −9.8 dB with gain variation less than 3 dB and input 1-dB gain compression points better than −3 dBm over radio frequency (RF) bandwidth. The mixer demonstrates a high RF factional bandwidth (FBW) of 0.684 with wide intermediate frequency (IF) bandwidth among reported mixers.
