Abstract

A high DC gradient gun with a negative electron affinity (NEA) surface GaAs photocathode is expected to produce low emittance (<0.5 nmnrmrad) electron beam which is required by an Energy Recovery Linac. We have developed a 200kV polarized electron gun for a future linear collider and the gun which has the photocathode surface field gradient of 3MV/m could be operated with negligible field emission dark current. We have started the development of the low emittance electron gun by using this system. PACS codes: 29.25.Bx; 29.27Ac
