Abstract

A multiple reflection cell has been designed and built for the study of the infrared spectra of molecules in liquid—argon solution with long absorbing paths. The cell has been operated at path lengths from 0.3–2.1 m although, in principle, longer paths may be obtained. The volume of the cell is about 1.5 1. When set to a path length of 1.5 m the transmission of the cell in regions of no solute absorption was found to be better than 95%.
