Abstract

Radio over Fiber (RoF) provides a simple and flexible pathway in the field of communication. RoF serves as a bridge between wired and wireless communication systems. The RoF address the issue of spectral congestion and is a best solution for distribution of millimeter wave signals. In this paper a 16 Quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) based RoF system is simulated using polarization modulator (PoIM) and the performance of frequency responses of both PolM based system and Mach Zehender Modulator (MZM) based RoF systems are simulated and analyzed. The frequency response of PoIM is tunable in nature. A least BER of almost 10 −37 is obtained in the case of PoIM when compared with MZM whose BER obtained is 10 −14 , which implies almost zero transmission error for PoIM.based RoF systems.
