Abstract
A low noise figure mixer (LNFM) is presented for 3.5GHz location-fixed WiMAX systems which have stringent specifications on noise figure. The architecture of the proposed LNFM is based on a conventional Gilbert-type structure. A center-tapped inductor is added to the transconductance stage to meet the low noise figure requirement. The presented LNFM is implemented with tsmc 0.18μm RF CMOS technology. Input radio frequency signals of 3.5GHz and local oscillation signals of 3.48GHz are set for the desired mixer with output intermediate frequency signals of 20MHz. The conversion gain is 10.69dB. For input power less than −20dBm, the single side band and double side band noise figures are as low as 6.5 dB and 3.5 dB, respectively. The input 1dB compression point is −21dBm. The third-order intercept point achieves −11dBm. The total power consumption is 9.525mW at 1.5V supply voltage.
