Abstract

This paper presents a 10 bits low-power direct digital IF to RF digital-to-analog (RF-DAC) fabricated in a 110 nm CMOS technology with a core area of 0.08 mm2. The DAC uses sixteen current mode double balanced mixers designed without a tail transistor with different weights to convert IF output to RF output. The digital IF signal is modulated by a digital Σ−Δ modulator with 1-bit IF output. The RF-DAC with a bandwidth of 300 KHz consumes 17.3 mA from a 1.5 V supply.
