Abstract

This paper investigates the effect of an addition of TiO 2 to the crystallization of a glass-ceramic in the system CaO-Al 2 O 3 -SiO 2 . X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis and scanning electron microscopy were used to determine the effect. The results showed that a suitable addition (fraction) of TiO 2 promoted crystallization by forming an intermediate crystalline phase. The optimization of the TiO 2 -fraction was 10 mass%.
