Abstract

The immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgH) component of antibodies contains a variable region composed of variable (VH), diversity (D) and joining (JH) gene segments. The combinatorial rearrangement of these gene segments enables immune cells to produce a huge variety of antibodies. The human VH gene segments comprise seven families: VH1-VH7.
