Abstract

Measurements on variations in the concentrations in natural waters of 90Sr along the Dnieper River from the entrance of the Pripjat River (1665 mBq litre −1) and the Kievskoje Reservoir (666 mBq litre −1) to the Dnieper Estuary (444 mBq litre −1) in the spring of 1988, together with the Black Sea (19·6 mBq litre −1) and the Aegean Sea (8·5 mBq litre −1) in the autumn of 1987, are described. The marine measurements were repeated in 1988. The concentrations of 137Cs in the waters of the Dnieper River, the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea, measured at the same time as the 90Sr, are also reported and compared with those of 90Sr.
