Abstract
This report is of a patient with squamous cell carcinoma and malignant lymphoma as synchronous primary malignant tumours in the oral cavity. A 75-year-old woman was referred with swelling of the lower lip and a painless ulcer on the right buccal mucosa. The tumours were histologically diagnosed as diffuse large cell—type malignant lymphoma on the lower lip and squamous cell carcinoma on the buccal mucosa. The malignant lymphoma was treated with 6 courses of rituximab plus pirarubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and prednisolone, while the squamous cell carcinoma was treated with tegafur, gimeracil, and oteracil potassium. Although the chemotherapy was effective, it was discontinued due to severe thrombocytopenia and anaemia and the patient's poor general health. The patient died 1 year after chemotherapy was stopped.
