Abstract
BACKGROUND: Colorectal surgeries (CRS) are often complex operations that currently have high associated surgical site infection (SSI) rates. A process improvement team was brought together in May 2014 and developed an intra-operative colorectal bundle of care (BOC) model designed to minimize post-operative infections in colorectal patients at our facility. Our objective is to determine the rates of SSI before and after the intra-operative BOC model implementation, to evaluate compliance to the model, and identify predictors for SSI development.
