Abstract

Teen parents are at risk of high stress, economic instability, and lack of adequate access to medical care. The COVID-19 pandemic may exacerbate these inequities for teen parents and their children. Recognizing this, the Generations program, a patient-centered medical home providing primary medical care, social work, and mental health services to teen headed families, adapted our processes to meet the needs of our patients. After implementing several outreach initiatives, we conducted a needs assessment to (1) discern if our outreach efforts had been successful in assisting our patients (2) further characterize the unique needs of teen parents amidst COVID-19.
