Abstract
BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Heterotopic ossification (HO) is a well-known complication after joint replacements such as hip and knee replacements. In lumbar total disc replacement, heterotopic ossification has an occurrence rate of 1.4% to 15.2%. Cervical total disc replacements have been performed and investigated widely in recent years, but the significance and incidence of HO associated with cervical total disc replacement is not known at present time.
