Abstract
Prostate Cancer Index Composite [EPIC-26 short form] questionnaire at 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 24 months after RARP were recorded. Student t-test was used to compare continuous variables and chi-squared test was used to compare categorical variables between groups. RESULTS: PSM was different between the two groups (p 0.0085). Group 1 patients had a greater PSM rate (29.41%,) as compared to group 2 (19.55%,). Frequency of urinary leakage (EPIC #1) was worse by a score difference of 0.97 in group 1 as compared to group 2 (p 0.0216) at 1 month. At 1 month, degree of urinary leakage (EPIC #4a) was also worse in group 1, with score difference of 1.64 as compared to group 2 (p 0.0046). Weakness of urine stream (EPIC #4d) was different between the two groups at 12 months, with a worse score by 0.79 in group 1 compared to group 2 (p 0.0019). There was no difference in AUASS between groups at any time point. Operative time and EBL did not demonstrate statistically significant difference between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: We examine the effect of previous transurethral prostate surgery on postoperative RARP continence and oncologic outcomes in the largest series to date. PS affects continence outcomes at one year or less, but not thereafter in our series. The PSM rate is substantially higher in those who underwent PS prior to RARP. These data can be used to counsel those who have a history of PS prior to RARP.
