Abstract

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers are often tasked with the delivery of bad news including making death notifications and informing loved ones about the termination of resuscitations. Currently, there are no national curricula or standardized trainings on this subject that are tailored to the unique challenges presented by the out-of-hospital environment. Our goal was to determine if out-of-hospital providers are receiving training on delivering bad news, how frequently they deliver bad news, and to explore sequelae arising from these experiences.
