Abstract
Coral snake antivenom is indicated for all victims envenomated by Micrurus coral snakes in North America. However, recent studies have demonstrated that antivenom does not need to be administered to victims of Texas coral snakes (Micrurus tener previously Micrurus fulvius tenere) who do not have any systemic effects. Since these symptoms may begin long after the bite, the time required to observe these patients is unknown. Our goal was to determine the appropriate duration of the observation period for systemic effects.
