Abstract
The UC Davis Women & Girls with Blood Disorders (WGBD) clinic began in 2015 as a partnership between pediatric hematologists and family planning specialists with a focus on adolescent and young adult women with bleeding and other blood disorders. Of adolescents presenting for heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB), 20% will have an underlying bleeding disorder. In addition, adolescent patients undergoing cancer treatment are at risk for both thrombosis and heavy menstrual bleeding and can benefit greatly from a collaborative approach. Although integrated hematology and gynecology clinics exist, there are few descriptive reports describing the patient characteristics and treatments specific to adolescent with hematologic disorders.
