Abstract
Measurements of fine particles and tiny bubbles with micro and nano size in a flow are important measurements for manufacturing of electronic devices and aseptic medical drugs. In-line measurements of diameter of particles and bubbles using interference patterns have been proposed. In this method, scattering light of a particle and a bubble occurred by radiating a laser generate an interference pattern. Signals of the patterns are measured by photodiodes. In the present study, we measured interference patterns by a high-speed video camera in order to confirm generation of interference patterns of fine particles and tiny bubbles. In addition, we discussed distinguishability between fine particles and tiny bubbles. From these experimental results, an interference pattern was confirmed for a bubble with 100 jam in diameter. Besides, change of a number of light and dark rings corresponding to diameter of measured bubbles was proposed. However, we were not able to observe clear distinctions of interference patterns of particles and bubbles.
