Abstract

Chiral crown ether-based chiral stationary phases (CSPs) have been known to be very useful for the liquid chromatographic resolution of various racemic compounds containing a primary amino group. Among various chiral crown ether-based CSPs, two types of chiral crown ethers incorporating an optically active binaphthyl unit or tartaric acid unit and phenolic chiral pseudo-18-crown-6 ethers have been most successfully utilized as chiral selectors of CSPs. In this chapter, the development of three different types of chiral crown ether-based CSPs, their structural characteristics, and their applications to the resolution of various racemic primary amino and nonprimary amino compounds including chiral drugs are presented.
