Abstract
Recently electric appliances such as portable phones and personal computers are being increasingly used. The influences of microwaves upon living organs are very important problems which are under investigations by many researchers. However the extent of these influences has not been made clear. Similar to microwave, the effects of magnetic fields and vibrations are matters of serious concern. For example, the appliances which produce magnetic fields or vibration are MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), sensors in body, minute capsules for drug delivery, and so on. In this study, the cells were cultured under external stress such as the microwave, magnetic and vibration. The trace metallic elements (such as Ca, Fe, Cu and Zn) in the cells were non-destructively examined by synchrotron radiation x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (SRXRF) at single cell level. The influences of microwave, magnetic field and vibration stresses upon the balance of metallic elements in single cells will be discussed in this paper..
