Abstract

This study continues previous work directed towards the need for improved medical information and support to families as they make decisions about screening and diagnostic testing, and as they receive an initial diagnosis of Down syndrome (DS) either prenatally or at birth. The purpose of the present study was to assess obstetrics and gynecology and pediatrics residents' cognitive knowledge about DS and prenatal testing, and their comfort in delivering a diagnosis of DS either pre- or postnatally before and after an intervention (i.e., interaction with a web-based tutorial that required the participant to directly reflect upon a “virtually delivered” diagnosis).
