Abstract

Aberrant levels of circulating angiogenic factors and inflammatory cytokines are associated with the occurrence and progression of preeclampsia. Antenatal corticosteroid treatment is of uncertain value in improving the clinical course of the disease. This study was conducted to test the hypothesis that steroids modify the balance of inflammatory, pro- and anti-angiogenic factors that potentially contribute to the patient's evolving clinical state.
