Abstract
Improving diagnostic accuracy of bipolar spectrum disorder (BSD) is clearly indicated to better inform treatment decisions. This proof-of-concept study aims to advance and improve treatment options for youth with BSD. This innovative proposal introduces the Behavioral Health AVATAR (BHA), which is an embodied conversational agent (ECA) that conducts natural and noncontact diagnostic interviews. During the interview, the BHA measures pupil dilation, eye fixation location, facial expression, body rigidity, vocal acoustics, and linguistic content.
