Abstract

This paper outlines the major features of the File Transfer, Access and Management (FTAM) protocol, which provides the following facilities: the transfer of a wide range of file types from one system to another, the reading or replacement of part of a file, or insertion of new material within it, and the remote interrogation and setting of ‘file attributes’.
