Abstract

The synthesis and the solid-state structure determination by a low-temperature single-crystal X-ray diffraction study of 8-(1,2-bis(diphenylphosphinoethane)]-9,10-μ-hydrido-8-rhoda-7-thia-nido-undecaborane(10), (Rh(B 9 H 10 S)(C 26 H 24 P 2 )].2CH 2 Cl 2 , as the bis(dichloromethane) solvate are reported. In terms of conventional electron-counting rules, this species has an anomalous polyhedral geometry; two one-electron agostic type Rh-H-C interactions are proposed as the source of an additional skeletal electron pair which satisfies cluster-bonding requirements
