Abstract

(TSL-2 and TSL-6). The most remarkable proteins among the identified proteins are glutathione S-transferase mu 6 (GST mu6), phospholipids hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase (PHGPx), fatty acid binding protein (FABP), tumor rejection antigen gp 96 (gp 96), pancreatic trypsin 1 (PT1), cofilin 2, and thioredoxin. The gp 96, PT1, HMG-CoA synthase 2 and GST Mu 6 expressions were up-regulated in testes by TSL-6 while TSL-2 down-regulated the GST Mu 6, PHGPx, FABP, and thioredoxin protein expressions. Gp96 and PT1 are involved in oocyte-sperm penetration, PHGPx and FABPs are involved in spermatogenesis, GST Mu 6 and HMGCoA synthase are responsible for detoxification and hormonal synthesis, respectively. Our results suggested that different TSL extracts regulated the male reproductive physiology and hence could be applied in either promoting sperm functions or male contraceptives.
