Abstract
Alprazolam dihydrate (C 17 H 13 ClN 4 .2H 2 O) crystallizes in space group P1 with Z = 4. The structure of the triazolobenzodiazepine moiety is quite similar in the four independent molecules and shows only very slight differences from those in related compounds reported in the literature. The diazepine ring displays an almost perfect boat conformation.
