Abstract
The goals of this presentation are: 1) to consider the ethical aspects inherent in clinical work with young children and their caregivers, particularly when their best interests are in conflict; 2) to identify the strengths and challenges of current approaches to addressing these ethical issues; and 3) to discuss gaps and avenues for future development of ethical guidance in work with young children and their caregivers, including the possible role for a code of ethics for infant and early childhood mental health.
