Abstract

This research aims to identify the effects of eight-week Kettlebell Training on the physical fitness and isokinetic muscular function of Taekwondo Poomsae players in 20 Poomsae players. The subjects were randomized classified into the Taekwondo Poomsae training group(TP, 10 people) and the Taekwondo Poomsae and kettlebell training group(TPK, 10 people). TP group conducted eight-week Poomsae training, and TPK group performed eight-week Poomsae and Kettlebell training. The physical fitness and isokinetic muscle function of the subjects were evaluated before and after eight-week training. We conducted Repeated Two-way ANOVA, paired t-test, and independent t-test of the collected data. The significance level for all statistical analyses is set to p<.05. As the results, Eight weeks of kettlebell training significantly improved muscle strength, agility, power, and equilibrium in Taekwondo Poomsae athletes. And, Eight weeks of kettlebell training significantly improved the knee joint flexion strength (60°/sec) and knee joint flexion muscle endurance (180°/sec) of Taekwondo Poomsae athletes. As such, eight weeks of kettlebell training significantly improves the physical strength and isokinetic muscle function of Taekwondo Poomsae players.
