Abstract

Prostaglandin compounds have been demonstrated to suppress fetal breathing and body movements in animal models, whereas prostaglandin inhibitors such as acetaminophen have been shown to stimulate both fetal activities. Although the use of prostaglandins during induction of labor has been found to decrease fetal activity in humans, minimal data exists regarding the effects of acetaminophen. The present study aimed to determine if maternal administration of acetaminophen impacts in-utero fetal activity in normal human pregnancies.
