Abstract
Evidence is presented which supports the recent revival in the quasidynamical approximation for the calculation of LEED intensities. Full dynamical calculations are compared with quasidynamical and other approximate calculations for MgO(100) and CoO(100) surfaces using the Pendry R factor. Results suggest that quasidynamical LEED should be capable of predicting reasonable surface structures in a theory-experiment comparison.
