Anoctamins are a group of calcium-activated chloride channels that play a role in the pacing of intestinal smooth muscle, and which can be identified in myometrial cells. The goal was to assess the ability of tannic acid, an anoctamin-1 antagonist, to suppress intact human uterine smooth muscle cell contractility
