Abstract

The Carpentier-Edwards pericardial valve (Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, CA, USA) has been in clinical use since 1980 in Canada. It was designed to minimize structural valve deterioration. Several studies have published clinical results with this pericardial valve to up to 20 years. Excellent durability especially in the aortic position in elderly patients and low incidence of valve-related complications has been reported. The objective of the present study is to analyse clinical results after 30 years of experience with this valve implanted in aortic position.
