Abstract
Objective: To evaluate if elevated arterial blood pressure(BP) determined in the childhood remains at adulthood Design and Methods: In 2004 we have examined 912 6-18 year old children, evaluating the BP according to Gessner I.H.,1993 BP levels.5,5% of children were determined moderate hypertension, 1,7% were diagnosed severe hypertension. In 2012 we repeatedly examined 48 persons (aged 18-28), who participated at the same studies. We used special questionnaires specifying family history, previous diseases, unhealthy habits, performed BP and antropometric measurements, ECG, echocardioscopy, examined blood lipids and glucose level. Results: We analyzed results of 48 trial subjects: 23 had increased BP in childhood and 25 were not observed with any BP abnormalities. 2 subjects of the first group were diagnosed with primary arterial hypertension (AH) in adult age. Assessing values of systolic BP, significant difference between BP amongst those who had and had not elevated BP in the childhood was determined- 122,0 and 116,2 accordingly. The same significant difference between average values was found in heart rate count-72,6 and 67,0 and plasma glucose level-5.05 and 4.89 accordingly. Conclusions: 1. Significant systolic BP, heart rate and glucose amount differences were observed amongst trial subjects with and without elevated BP in childhood. 2. Diagnosing of elevated BP at early age is a very important factor for development of primary AH in adulthood. 3. It is important to measure children's BP during routine annual examination and even more often if the risks is higher.
