Abstract
In Chile, abortion on demand is penalized. Therapeutic abortion for risk to the life of the woman, fatal fetal anomaly and rape was legalized only in August 2017. Characterization of women who preform illegal unsafe abortions has been difficult to explore. The objective of this study was to describe the profile of young women who performed unsafe abortions in Chile using data of the 2015 Chilean National Youth Survey (CNYS) that included a confidential abortion question for the first time.
