Abstract

AbstractThe conversion of tri‐vectored color values to quad‐vectors creates a degree of freedom that may be used to optimize color reproduction and image reconstruction. Global selection from among possible RGBW metamers improves image texture. Local selection from among possible metamers improves subpixel rendering. Combining RGBW with Dynamic Back Light Control eliminates Out‐of‐Gamut colors while still maintaining power reduction benefits of RGBW. Local mapping vs. global mapping of Out‐of‐Gamut colors improves brightness without sacrificing local luminance contrast for more aggressive power savings modes.
