Abstract

It has been suggested that utilization of the fetal fibronectin (FFN) assay may improve diagnostic accuracy in those patients presenting with symptoms of preterm labor. Although rare, the issue of a false negative result is concerning as it may delay treatment and influence neonatal outcome. We sought to determine if there were any clinical predictors of a false negative result.
