Abstract

Endoscopic management of symptomatic walled-off pancreatic necrosis (WON) is challenging with associated morbidity. Through-the-scope large caliber fully covered self-expandable metal stents (LC-SEMS) are now available. LC-SEMS may permit spontaneous passage of necrotic material into the stomach, decreasing the need for repeated endoscopic interventions. We aimed to compare outcomes of endoscopic management of WON using LC-SEMS compared to double pigtail plastic stents (dp-plastic) in a large series.
